Because the region is not yet overrun by tourists, you can enjoy a relaxed atmosphere and friendly people. From the campsite you can make day trips to the Serra da Estrela and Caramulo or Viseu and Coimbra. Porto also belongs to the possibilities, where you can taste port and have a bite to eat in the port houses on the waterfront of the Douro River. If you want a few days in a hotel in Porto or Lisbon, no problem, your motor home or caravan can stay on the campsite.
Of course, you don’t have to do anything and just enjoy the peace. You can take a look at the shepherd with his flock, enjoy the beauty of flowers which especially in spring is very exuberant, or observe animals. If you have some patience, you will see lots of lizards and salamanders, non-poisonous snakes, but also many species of crickets, beautiful butterflies, dragonflies and birds. In the evening, enjoy the cricket concert, frogs croaking, calling the little owl, all of this often under a clear sky. A night walk at full moon is definitely recommended.
Would you like to help on the quinta, we will certainly appreciate that. There is always something to do.
Food and drink
With enough interest, we are planning a dinner party or BBQ on the terrace or in the reception. Or we take you to eat delicious Frango (flat grilled chicken) or to taste a traditional Portuguese meal.
Drinks Refreshments: a cozy cocktail hour with Portuguese wine or port and some refreshments.
Festivals, markets, cheese farm or wine tasting
In the autumn and winter there are various festivals, such as wine and chestnut festivals and throughout the year there are village festivals. The weekly markets in the area are worth. It is also possible to visit a cheese factory and a winery.
Walking on sand paths and between hills
From the quinta you can hike. Walking along sandy paths between the hills, you can enjoy the beautiful views, in the winter the snow on the peaks of the Serra da Estrela, a protected nature reserve. You can walk from village to village and can rest in the many cafes.
A number of walks we have described from the site, but you can also choose a walk on www.wikiloc.com.
Do you have a hike somewhere else in mind, it is possible to bring you to the starting point and pick you up at the end again.
For those looking for something sportier: mountain biking, canoeing, horseback riding, paragliding, and even skiing. A guided walking tour through de Estrela.
Performances in amphitheater
Near our Quinta is the village Bobadela, whit many archaeological excavations. In summer, occasional performances are given in the restored amphitheater.
